What is the difference??

I read about people adding stress coat to some fish tanks when they introduce new fish in their tanks.
I would like to know what the difference is between stress coat & water conditioner
Someone told me they both do the same but the stress coat has aloe vera in it and the water conditioner doesn't.
If that's the only difference what does the aloe do for the fish

Thanks very much for all your answers!

Hi!

Anyone who grows Aloe will know about this succulents miraculous healing properties. It is very good to help heal up injury's and I think it helps with stress.

Water conditioners remove harmful properties, notably chlorine and chloramines, from tap water, making it safe for your bio-filter and fish. Slime coat promoting products (such as Stress Coat) either promote the fish's natural slime coat production, or "replaces" it during times of stress until the natural slime coat can restore itself. Some products do both, removing chlorine/chloramine as well as promoting slime coat. To know the difference, you just have to read the label carefully.

Some water conditioners also provide slime coating enhancement as well. Like NovAqua+, Fish Protector or Prime.
