Transferring

Advice please on how I should go about trasferring my 4 Red King Cobra {male} Guppy's & 3 Rummy Nose Tetras from a 10 Gallon Tank to a 20 Gallon Tank without causing to much stress on them, especially after they managed to survive the cycle {thank goodness}.
Will my fish have to go through the cycle again with this new tank?

is the new tank cycled? if not, then yes they will. if it's already cycled, you can either try to get the parameters of the water the same in both tanks and just move them (ph and temp mostly) or if they aren't, you can get ziploc or whatever kind of plastic baggies and put some water from the 10gal tank in them, put the fish in, and float them in the new tank the same way you would if you'd just bought new fish-- adding some of the new tank water a bit at a time till they are acclimated.

also, if the new tank is not cycled already, you can use decorations and more importantly, filter media from the cycled 10 gallon in the new one, and this will speed up the process.

Welcome to Fishlore.

If/when the 20g is cycled, I'd acclimate the Gups to the tank then a week later acclimate the tetras.

Hopefulness

Hi Lucy, thank you for showing an interest in my venture to
transfer from 10 Gallon tank to 20 Gallon tank.
Yes hopefully I will be able to move Gravel & Filter as one of my
colleagues has agreed to house my Guppy's and Rummy Nose Tetras
in his Aquarium until mine is ready.
I will certainly let you know how things work out {fishy wise}.

Hi Lucy, just to let you know that the 20 Gallon tank
has now been running for a week with Gravel and Filter from the
10 Gallon tank, have been testing water quality day by day and
readings very good, hope to start adding the Guppy's first at the
end of the week to see how they get on.
If everything goes alright after a week then I will add the
Rummy Nose Tetra. Will let you know how they get on.

Bye the way, are you still going to upgrade to a 20 Gallon?

Kind regards

Andy

Hi Andy,
I'm happy to hear things went smoothly for you.

I had bought a used 20 but it didn't have a lid.
I ended up finding a used 30 gallon with everything included for a really good price.
I'm taking things slowly, so it's not set up yet.
