I bought a feeder fish today because he was too beautiful to end up as someone's dinner. I asked the store clerk and she said the little gold fish would be fine with my yo yo and ghost shrimp. I got home, acclimated the goldfish and released him. Now the yo yo is picking on him and won't leave him alone. I have some driftwood I had been soaking--should I go ahead and add this to the tank to make things look different? Or should I also rearrange the driftwood in the tank too to see if that will make the yo yo less territorial? I feel really bad for the goldfish =(

Goldfish are coldwater fish...not to be kept with tropicals.

You should either take the goldfish back or setup a 20G for him. He would be much happier.

ahhh. i asked about the temperature difference and the store clerk was like, well we keep the fancy goldfish at 78 so he should be fine" I don't have another tank so I guess I will return him tomorrow =( Hopefully someone will buy him as a pet and not food.

if your worried put it in a bowl of sorts. it is a cold water fish so as long as your house doesnt get too cold it will be fine for a short time.
