Which fish to transfer first?
I've been thinking and I'm still a little worried. By the time I learned about the cycling progess my father's tank had been running for a few years and so I started out being able to do fishless cycles. In order to set up my 75g I have to place it were my 22g currently is - which is a problem. I'll be using bio-spira ontop of the gravel and filter from the 22g but I'm still a little worried about my cories and otos. Other than the "random oto deaths" and the deaths of both my orginal tetra and danio (each within days of me adding 2-3 of their own kind) I haven't lost any other fish yet - and I'm rather proud of myself for that. I've been lucky enough to be able to learn from the mistakes others have made on the site.
I'm mostly worried about my cories and otos though. I've been thinking and maybe I could move them in with my tetras (10g) for a few days (about doubling the bioload so thats not going to be very health, right?) and then my killifish into the other 10g and move my zebra danios into the 75g, being the hardiest? Or maybe just move the killifish and zebra danios into the 75g, leave the tetras alone for now (I'll be converting their tank into a qt once everyone is in the 75g) and let the cories and otos take over the other 10g until the tank has had time to estabilish? Or perhaps with the bio-spira its safe to add the killifish, cories and otos and I can just leave my tetras and danios alone for a little while longer? Either way I know I'm putting someone at risk but I want to make sure I'm doing what I can to minimize that risk. I've been working on checklists for awhile to try and make sure I can make the move and set up go as quickly and smoothly as possible.
