Are these fish okay? What Next?
We cycled our 46 gallon tank using fish food. It took about a month and a half. Then we added the 4 pygmy cories and 4 guppy babies. We waited another month, then added one pleco and 6 neons.
I know the pleco will get too big for my tank. The LFS we get our fish from will take him back when he gets to big and give us a new little one.
I wan't to add a few more guppies and a pair of dwarf gouramies... but I don't know if they are compatable. I also would like to add something more rare and unusual looking. Any ideas would be much appreciated!
Thanks for the input!

They are okay for the most part. You will just have to keep a look out for aggression from the gouramis. They aren't that aggressive, but I swear my dwarf took a bite out of one of my neons when they were in the same tank.

Thank you for the warning about the prolific tendencies of guppies. I was under the impression that the other fish would eat the eggs and the baby guppies so that most of them wouldn’t make it to adult fish. Is that true? Also, not to be heartless, but would my betta eat guppy fry? He seems to like live food.
On gouramies, what is the best ratio? Should I get one? Or should I try for one female and one male?
or is there anther fish that is pretty like dwarf gouramies but not so aggressive? I don't want my tetra's getting nipped

Guppies are livebearers, they don't lay eggs. Some guppy fry will get eaten, but you usually don't get that lucky if you don't want guppy fry. Overall the dwarf gouramis aren't that aggressive, it just depends on the the fish itself. As long as you have enough caves for the gouramis, you should be able to handle a few. More females to males is the best option with them.

I knew that about guppies... I had a brain fart. Live bearers mean live young... no eggs It's been a long week (and it's only TUESDAY :S )
thanks for the info about gouramis... they are really pretty and I'd love to add them to my tank.
I'm so excited cus I finnaly found a good live fish store. All the fish I've gotten from them have been healthy, and so far everyone is doing great!

Brain farts... Never wanted. Good LFS are always good for the fish tank. You should be fine with adding gouramis in a tank of that size.

Hi!
Get Pleco out of there now - and exchange him for a Bristlenose pleco. They don't get massive, and are unusual looking as you like.
Get 1 Male Dwarf gourami and 2 females. You can go for Cobalt Blue females - they are lovely and still Dwarfs.
So, so far we have this:
6 Neons - 1.5in - 1.5x6=9in.
4 Guppys - 2in - 2x4=8in.
1 Bristlenose pleco - 6in - 1x6=6in.
4 Pygmy corys - 1.5in - 1.5x4=6.
3 Dwarf gouramis - 2.5in - 2.5x3=7.5.
9+8+6+6+7.5=36.5.
So you have about 10 inches of fish left. What sort to thing do you like? I recommend Common hatchets.

Hi, Yes, the betta will gobble the babies right up! As long as their small enough. My betta loves them up to about 2wks old (maybe a little longer) but after that they are pretty big. Your gouramis will also eat them.

I love gouramis too make sure to get a 1:2 male female ratio or just get females, they still look great and are fun to watch.

How true! Our newest Betta, Chloe, has her tank next to the Endlers fry tank. She loves to swim up and down and around on that side - you can tell she'd love to jump right in and start eating the little fry.

Yes, its funny though, I was only thinking of my younger Betta, that I got just lately, Jose. Jose will eat pretty big babies. I know it sounds cruel but I think it is very healthy for them. After all, baby fish have exactly what is needed to sustain life, because they are alive and functioning. Bruno, my other betta, will usually not eat them, he likes to chase them alot but usually chickens out. I have kept him with very small babies and had minimal loss. Jose will not leave them alone. Both of them are fine with older babies though. They never even nip their fins. I love to talk about my bettas! Bruno will even jump out of the water to eat a pellet from your fingers, it is so cute! And Jose flares up at everything. He loves his big cave I got him, he always sleeps in it.

thanks for all the input... I look into the Bristlenose pleco. I'm not a big fan of the common pleco, but my hubby likes them alot. Maybe when this one gets too big I'll swap him with a Bristlenose.. by that time the hubby will prolly have lost intrest in the tank and won't even notice

I hope it works out with your tank, and the bristlenose is a great addition to the tank, but be sure to look at all the color variations of pleco to see if you like anything better, there are quite a few that stay pretty small.

I thought brisltlenose plecos only got to 4-4 1/2 inches. And my recomendation for that extra space would be Cherry Barbs.

Hi!
A common pleco is just a big poop machine. Honestly - BN's are just a smaller common - except males have bristles!
For the 10 inches extra space, here are my recommendation's:
6 Common hatchets (Like the one in my avatar),
5 Female cherry barbs and 1 Male cherry barb,
5 Male platys,
6 Glowlight tetras.

Hatchet has got you covered, he helped me decide on fish for my tank, and I'm happy so far.
