Having a sump increases your # of gallons, so you can keep more fish.

I would have no clue how to set one up. I have done lots of reading but still clueless.

Is a sump a one piece filter or does it have to have a refugium as well? or is it that? so confused.

All I know is I have two holes fitted with elbow joints and a valve with a red handle to stop water flow. Also a bunch of other soft pipes and valves but I think those came from the old filter and any new one I got would have all that in it. Right?

I know I dont have an inlet or outlet pipe to go up into the tank from the pvc fittings around the hole, they would be hard pvc and have strainers on them. Likely not making sence but hey its 1:00 in the morning.

I like this chicks filter but not sure yet if she will seperate. I offered her 75 for the filter and fish (obviously they cant survive without filtration)
The filter is worth 200 but she want 250 for her whole set-up and I think we can all agree I don't need another one of those...hehe

Hi
sorry to hear your having problems figuring out that sump pump etc. You really should have left that tank on craigslist and waited for another without holes in it..... anyway to use aquarium silicon and some supplies to just close up the holes and go the normal route with your tank?

Hi!

A sump is a separate tank, with a large filter in it, and I think you can add a heater. It means you don't have to hide your equipment, and you can have really, really big filters.

Well it is siliconed now and I just closed off the valves. I'm not going to bother with a sump. I'm just going to attach the piping to a canister filter and store it under the cabinet.
