not always. I've had bettas that could have been put in my community tank and would have been fine, others if I put any other kind of fish with it would rip them apart. It really depends on the personality of the fish.

Hi!
Depends on the personality - but go ask on the Betta board "Can I keep my Betta in this community" and get an answer of no. They don't belong in the community - they just get stressed out.

No I'm not saying that he should be in community, I'm saying that he wouldnt eat the fish in my community- on the contrary he would probably be nipped.

Yeah, lets leave bettas to their tanks, not our communities!

I would at least put a divider up or they'll probably nip each other's fins. The guppy is faster but the Betta is bigger - but they need to be seperated.

Yea he ate the Guppy! Thought all was good but Guppies fins got smaller and smaller so I guess I got one mean Betta!
I'm now trying to decide on another tank that I want! I have my choice of a 70 gallon long (was used for reptiles) but has stand and a filter
Or an 110 gallon tall with two bottom drilled holes and the plumbing attached with bulkheads some sort of lever you use to close of the valve while you clean the filter. comes with no top but 2 set of 48" strip lights and a stand.
70 is $150 delivered
110 is $230 delivered
I don't know what to do ?
1st is the 110
2nd the 70
any suggestions! I plan on slow starting this one to get everything just right! just such good deals...icant pass them up

Well I went for the 110. He will deliver tonight or tomarrow. He threw in a large air pump 48" bendable bubble wall, whisper 60 and some media, plants in the tank and a heater on top of the all the rest. Now how could I say no to that?

Hi!
Great deal! What are you planning on getting for that tank? It could be handy for separating some of your fish you have now. Maybe keep the 55 for the carnivores, and breed fancy guppys in the 110gal to supply the carnivores with food?

I was going the other way with that same idea.
110-for the carnivors since they needed a min. of 50 anyways. I was thinking of adding african knife fish too. Im going to set it up like their natural habitat I found a good site that tells you a lot about each type of fish http://wetpetz.com/fish.html
Then I'm going to use the 55 as a pretty breeder tank for guppies and shrimp.

Naw, make the 110 the carnivores, then they have more room and less agression.

Hi!
Cool. Have you seen www.Aquahobby.com? It's my fav fish site, tied with FL! You'll find the 'Gallery' section really useful on finding different kinds of fish. A large carnivore tank would be really interesting. You could look into a few other species for that tank... Arrowanas or maybe Bichirs might owrk with those fish.

Here it is! Wow is it big. I need to seal up the holes though. I can't decided if I want to make use of them and reseal the pipes in place or take out the pipes and seal over the holes with 4"x4" glass cutouts.
I know these holes are pretty standard in salty tanks I'm tempted to post over there too to get some good suggestions.
Down side my bedroom smells like vineger! yuck... thats going to halve to be cleaned up tonight!

are those for a sump? you could have a sump in a freshwater tank, filtration and as a refugium.

Hi!
Yeah - an FW sump would be really cool. Didn't you have a spare 5gal or something? The thing your Betta was in before he got the 10gal/the one he was moved to because of the MelaFix? That would probably work nicely.
