How soon after a water change can you test the water quality with the water change taking 'effect'? Thanks all!

That is what I usually do. You see, I did a water change in my tank and am hoping it is cycled. I haven't tested yet, but the bacteria bloom has already came and went due to the use of a filter from an already established tank. Now it has been up for over a week, and I am ready to add fish. I guess tomorrow morning I'll test and maybe run to the LFS to grab some cichlids... Thinking of going with Red Zebras...

Good luck - I hope the tank is cycled so that you can start up the fish population with the first few fish.
