How do I...

Hi!

Well - when I added set-up my 47gal community - I couldn't be bothered to soak the bogwood long enough... Now - I'm gnawing my leg of with this problem: how do I get rid of the tannins that discolour my water? I don't want them really - my dad is always complaining about 'yellow water'.

You can remove the bogwood, boil it, and put it back. Only way I know, aside from constant water changes.

Taniins don't hurt anything though. In fact, I have a 55 gallon right that's almost brown from them. Best smelling water I have. LOL

Then You need to soak it in a bucket or boil it.

Hi!

Can I do it without depriving my little BN of his dietary requirements?

If the bn is the tank, then take an afternoon and boil it for a hour or 2. that will get most of the tanks out, it still will slightly affect the water but not to the extreme it is now

Hi!

I'll ask mum if I'm allowed to boil it...
