Problems.

As some of you know I am currently cycling a new tank. I couldn't find any biospira at any local commercial retailer. That was fine I bout some cycle by nutrafin, I think. Found out I got conned Cycle (what is claimed to be biospira's competitor is nothing like the liquid gold I've been hunting.

Next is that there is some form of condensation building up in my heater (100 watt unnamed heater, came with tank).

Finally my filter is overflowing and when the clean and overflowed water comes back out it brings bubbles with it, as in bubbles are being pulled into the aquarium by the flow of the filter.

All parameters check out, except pH which reads a little high, and if I sound worried I'm not because they're are no fish in the aquarium. Just seeing if there is anything I can do to fix some minor problems, other than the heater, I don't want to buy another one. Sorry if you wasted a good five minutes of your life but any input is welcome and wanted at this point.

The bubbles are normal and perfectly alright.

If the heater has condensation build up then there must be a breach of some sort in the unit and it is only a matter of time until the unit fails or begins sending an electrical current into the water. You should get rid of that heater and get a better one. (Visotherm stealth and Ebu Jager are the two brands we use if at all possible, here in the fishhouse.)

I agree with CWC about the heater, they are one part of the tank set up you can not afford to skimp on.

Bio-Spira is available at www.drsfostersmith.com the cost is higher here than from a LFS because they tack on overnight shipping. I am sure if you look, (and ask) there should be some store within 100 miles of you that has it....YOU live down there is civilization! I purposefully add a power head to my tank to inject more oxygen into the water. Don't worry about the bubbles going into the tank, UNLESS you are wanting to keep more CO2 in the water to facilitate the growth of plants.

Actually you can search marineland.com and see if they list any bio-spira sellers in your area. The closest to me is over 30 miles away and actually isn't opened anymore but it always worth a try.

Is there anything wrong with having some condensation above the water level? Like some smaller beads of water and a generally greyish sheet of water is building up above my water line in the tank.

Any water/condinsation in a heater is bad news.
This can also be dangerous to both you and your fish.
Any such heater I see here with it is instantly discarded into the trash.

Are you still talking about in the heater? Or are you just talking about above the water line in the tank? I usually have my water line up to the edge of the black plastic top support, the only condensation is on the glass in the hood of the tank....

Any condensation IN the heater is an indication it is bad and should be discarded....just like ANY electrical appliance, when the bare wires contact water, it can cause electrocution, and it might be YOU...

No I dumped the heater, I am talking about on the glass, as in right above the water line. I also noticed that my tank is not level will this cause issues later on?
