Community Tropical Fish?

Hello,

I'm currently cycling a 29 gal tank for tropical small schooling fish.
Waiting for cycling to complete before adding fish.
The tank currently has an aquatech 20-40 filter and also a tetra 30 filter
I've done some research and have put together the following list:

6 - zebra danios
6 - Cherry Barbs
6 - Cory catfish (Bandit cory, Blackfin Cory and Peppered Cory) for choices.
3 - Oto's

Any suggestions as to additions or deletions from the list above?

Thanks,
Jim

I have a 30g community, and I also have the aquatech 20-40 filter. At full size those fish choices are about the most you can have following the 1 inch rule. The only problem I see is that barbs can be slightly aggressive sometimes. You could also consider some tetras, I know everyone has them but they are colorful and are good schoolers. Also, consider adding a couple of ghost shrimp. They add some variety to the tank, help clean it, and dont produce a lot of waste.

You can't go wrong with zebra danios. Mine are all over their tank and as active as ever. I'm eager to see how they take once I can get my 75g to all the other fish. Cherry barbs I'm not familair with but I am hoping I might beable to fit them into my 75g set up as well, beautiful coloring and from what I understand the cherry barbs tend to be the shy side. Those two set you at about 24 inches.

Otos are cories are always great - not only do they add to the tank but they also make cleaning up a little easier on you. Peppered cories do get to around 3 inches. I'm not sure about the bandit or blackfin though. I do believe most cories get to about 2 inches though. Six is a good size group but I believe three is pretty much the minimum.

The danios, barbs and otos will set you at about your limit following 1"/g The cories adding another 6-12 inches I'm afraid.

Welcome to Fishlore!

I'd consider changing the barbs to neons.

Hi!

According to the inch per gallon rule, that tank would be slightly overstocked. I recommend you don't get corys, and instead get 6 otos.
