Cichlids and guppys

hi. I've been keeping fish for a while now. I have 2 tanks, one of which contains guppys. I was wondering...are there any cichlid species that wouldn't completely destroy my guppy's? Also, would a split environment(they can move between, but i just mean for interests sake?) work such as 1/2 all planted and dirftwoody, and the other half have rocks and such for the cichlids or would they require completely differnt water chemistry and such? its a pretty big tank, so would this work?
thanks for our time and infinate knoweldge!
have a good one!

Re: Cichlids and guppys

i think any cichlids would have a pretty high chance of wiping out the guppies.. i think you can mix the tank style/environment like that and not need anything special done in terms of water chemistry and all.
