Getting rid of Tank

Well i have been putting it off for a period of time now i have to get rid of my 10 gallon tank i have in my room. I just dont have enough space for it and i dont have no room for it any other place. I have a couple of questions.
If i took my filter from my ten gallon which is already cycled and put it on my 29 gallon (Penguim 100 filter) would i go through another cycle?
I have a 150 by marineland in my 29 gallon already cycled.
I am going to put my betta in a smaller tank or get rid of him not sure of what to do?
If i do get a smaller tank i am going to put the water and rock from my 10 gallon in it and do i have to have a heater and filter for a betta?
Any suggestions would be great

Re: Getting rid of Tank

Putting a filter from a cycled tank into another cycled tank shouldn't affect things any, it should all stay cycled. A betta needs a heater and filter. If you want to find a home for him, maybe do a package deal with the whole setup.. a 5g hex or 3g eclipse would make a good smaller tank for your betta.. you could use the sponge from the 10g filter (and gravel) to seed the new smaller tank and speed it up on cycling.

Re: Getting rid of Tank

So it would be a bad idea to put him in my 29 gallon tank with all my other fish

yea, he'd be very stressed and those swordtails would be real tempting for him to go after.

Re: Getting rid of Tank

Well i figured things out. I put my betta in a 3 gallon eclipse tank and got rid of my 10 gallon tank put it away for use for a later time and everything seems to be working out ok.

cool, that's a nice desktop aquarium for a Betta. still room for a cave, a column and a couple plants.
