Hi, thanks to Armadillo's idea, I thought i'd start stocking medicine for my fish. I have an 'Anti-internal-bacteria' , 'Anti-Ick' and something for 'superficial bacterial infections' at present, besides the general aid. I'd like to know what is 'a must have' for fish owners first, then go on to the random stuff. I wont be able to go with the exact brand names as we dont have the same here as most of you guys...

These meds cover pretty much whatever fish illnesses you could treat.

BettaCouple, blimey, you really have all of that in your fish meds cabinet? I need to get another job to afford all of this!

Great advice, thanks. It will stop me buying the useless stuff and wasting my money.

About the specific meds:

• I've definitely heard Maracyn and Maracyn 2 being highly recommended from different sources, not just the forum.
• Isn't hole in the head disease more concerning cyclids and the likes in general? Think I'lll skip on that one for my mollies.
• I still love the idea of medicated food, but can't for my life get my hands (fins ) on them. Ah well, the hunt goes on.

Mike/BettaCouple/whoever, would it be an idea to sticky this one in the beginners' section?

Pheew! That'll definitely crash my purse! But no doubt save me alot of heartache. i'll have to get them few at a time...

Yes, that's what I'm going to do. Just went to the LFS and spent 60 euros (again!). After spending about 60 just the day before, and another 50 3 days before that. Can't keep up.

we're doing that ourselves.. getting the meds as we can until we get all of them, starting with the most commonly needed ones. eventually we want to be able to treat anything that might come along and avoid any emergencies that force us to go to petco.. another med that is good (but NEVER with air-labyrinth fish) is Melafix.

i've heard of hole in the head disease affecting live-bearers and other fish. it is not real common, but we'll want to stock that med (eventually) as the alternative would be to put the fish down should we get an unlucky case of it.

i think in livebearers in tends to make a hole in the body.. but not exactly common as i said so it's definitely a last med to get kind of med.

Yeah, that's what I think too. A nice-to-have, but not urgent. Am continuing on my good fish day streaks. My 150L seems to have cycled in 1 day! I know it's unrelated, but I need to shout it on the roof tops... A million times!
