Hi,
I am new here and in a spot of trouble. I have a 460 liter tank with catfish (not sure what type, but big, 4-5 inches) a few red tailed sharks, 3 large gouramis, 5 dwarf, 3 tiger barbs and an angel fish. I started with 20 danios and now down to 7 and also one tiger barb missing.
Who is the likely suspect please?

Sorry to hear what happened. What kind of danios were they?

I'm not sure, but I think that the gouramis and maybe the angelfish too will eat smaller fish.

I'd guess the angel and gouramis also.. when did you last clean the gravel and have you seen your nitrites rise any lately?

Gravel is cleaned weekly. They were zebra danios.

Nitrates are fine, the danios have been eaten whole! the Barb (twice size of danio) remains I found yesterday.
Gouramis have been bullying each other and others. but remains found with the catfish?

I would think they would be too fast to be eaten whole....

Well, I bought a Rio 125 for the cats, and going to buy 2 dozen neon tetras and danios. Now the likely suspects are gone we will see what happens!

i also would guess the gouramis and angel may have attacked and killed and maybe eaten some, but the cat fish would eat any left over dead fish that reaches the bottom of the tan hope the new tank arrangement works better for you

Just wondering maybe. Are there any gaps in the lid of the tank that they could have jumped through? Have you chacked behind the tank?

I had a few danios jump out of the tank with the cover on so they must have jumped through the tinyest hole. I saved one of them but not the other. Just wondring. Maybe its worth checking.

That is also the only thing i can think of either they jumped out of the tank or they were eaten by other fish in your tank
