tank wall paper

I keep my 10 gal tank in the old fire place since I do not use the fire place for its intended purpose. It looks nice in there in our living room. I have three bleeding heart tetras and three glow light tetras. My question is, I do not have any wall paper at the back of the tank. Appart from aesthetics, does the wall paper have any purposes - say, makes the fish less stressed.

None that I'm aware of...It does help to block excess light and my fish tend to congregate at the back of the tank when they are feeling pressured.

Re: tank wall paper

I read somewhere that it does ease the stress on some fish, espiciallly if you have plants against the back of the tank. It gives them a little better hiding place instead of just another pane of glass that is just an empty promise of escape to the outside world.

Re: tank wall paper

I'm not sure that it provides the fish any benefit. our fish don't seem to care one way or the other.

Thanks. I too felt that the wall paper was mostly for looks!

It just breaks my heart when you say that! That must be how they feel.
