Amquel+ and changing water

Hello. I am using amquel+ as of today to lower the ammonia in the water. Should I use this every day, for always? Or just when the concentrations are high?
Also, how often should I change the water in the tank, and what are the best methods of doing this, both for the tank and for the fish?
Thank you!

Re: Amquel+ and changing water

On the amquel+: Add the amount to your tank that the directions call for. Then when you do water changes, treat the new water with the amount needed. I've only used it when the water conditions were high. You want your tank to cycle, but you also want the fish to not have to live in toxic conditions, so it's a balancing act of sorts.

Re: Amquel+ and changing water

You need to do a water change whenever the ammonia or nitrite levels get to 1 or above. What type of fish do you have in the tank, and how big is the tank?

Re: Amquel+ and changing water

The tank is a six gallon, and I have 2 silver hatchets, 2 mollys (a balloon and a dalmatian), and 3 cory cats.
Also, I just purchased Prime today. Is that ok to use with the amquel+, or should I only use one?
Thank you!
