It seems like petco and petsmart have very limited selection of fish. Can anyone advise me where to buy a nice fish from, where they have a good selection. Please...

Do you have any mom and pop pet/fish stores around? You can also check into any local fish clubs and get your fish from other hobbyists and/or breeders. That is the best way to get healthy fish.

I'd agree with Gunnie.. if you're fortunate to have a local fish club or breeders in your town, they'll 99% of the time have better fish than the big chains.

i ll look for it, but is there like a proper store from where i can buy? Is internet a good source to buy fish from?

liveaquaria.com and miamiaquariums.net have good reputations, but the shipping costs make fish expensive since they need to be mailed overnight.

Look around your area and see what LFSs are around, but....check them out first. I have one in my area that I won't buy from after walking in there. I went in, and watched as the person getting a fish out of the tank pinned, literally, a pleco between the glass and a net trying to get them out for a customer. I wouldn't have bought that fish, if I were in that position. The other tanks in the shop seemed rather unkept and the smells in that place weren't very good either.

On the other hand, there's a new one up the road, where the guy is trying to get started. He doesn't have a lot yet, but everything is clean and well kept. So far, I'm impressed.
