Zebra Danio & Guppies

I have 3 zebrra danio and 3 guppies in a 10 gallon tank.* Any suggestions on what more should i have.* I was thinking of adding neon tetras and glowlight or maybe glass/ghost catfish, what do you think?* How many of these should i have.* Will it be overcrowded?

Re: Zebra Danio & Guppies

Hi, RBA. Both of the species you have in your tank reach an adult size of about 2 inches. That means you already have 12 inches of fish in a 10 gallon tank, and should not add any more. If I may suggest a sudden onset of MTS, you could always start a new tank!

Did you get all male guppies?

Hi RBA
yeah, if ther r both male and female guppies there will be fries and your tank will be overcrowded (if your tank is heavily planted).

I have 3 plastic plants in my tank. I dont know if those guppies are all male or if they are mix, i can probably go home and check later on. If i add more fish and keep cleaning very regularly, can i still add more fishes to it?

Right now, you're only a little overstocked, so the waste levels aren't too much off but more fish could tilt that to the point that they'd be easy targets for sicknesses, even with daily water changes and cleaning.. the crowding would cause stress and that's another way in for sickness. I wouldn't recommend any more fish in that tank.

Re: Zebra Danio & Guppies

i agree too. stick with what you've got. however, shrimp have a very low bioload, so you could perhaps squeeze one of those in if you're really keen to add something but you would have to up the water changes. think its time to splash out on a new tank...........
