this sounds like me!!! you have to carry on with the kids no matter how much they tantrum and you pull your hair out!! i feel like that with my tanks! my 50% daily (or twice daily) water changes to both tanks is exhausting (like getting up to do night feeds with babies), but you cant give up either!!

Vin.......glad to know there's light at the end of the tunnel!! i thought i'd got there, but now i seem to have swung back round to square one!!! its a long process, and you sound like me with the impatience thing!!!! i want instant quick fixes, and often hit every chemical going, before sitting back and actually thinking about it and realising all it did was cost more time and money!!!!!!!!!!

glad to hear you've graduated the cycle!!!!!!!!!! also reassuring to know i thought i had probelms with 0.25 ammonia and i thought my fish would die.......to hear yours survived 4 and bred too is very reasuring!!!

Re: HELP!! Confused by Mixed Advice

Boy oh boy! I couldn't wait to get to the end of this story to see how it all turned out. Well done, and I hope it is all ok now. It gives me reasurance because I have had similar probs. Thought my tank was very well established then had a high reading of ammonia (silly me, I think it was because of an over night thing adding fish etc. ) I should have left well enough alone, but panic set in because I had my fish in tank, so I added ammo lock. I will NEVER add anything to my tank again, other than water conditioner. I have done water changes every day for the last two weeks. Several weeks prior to that everything was as it should have been. My fish are fine....Im a wreck! Don't know wether a mini cycle, or test kit is rubbish, but absolutely sure readings are not correct because of ammo lock, but keeping up with the water changes just in case. Well done Vin

Applause is well deserved all around!

I have done the water change dance myself and have to say that I LOVE a cycled tank!

Congrats!
