Powerhead question?

Hello, Just wondering if a powerhead that does 300gph would be ok in a 112 gallon aquarium with angels. (dont want to hurt the angels)

Re: Powerhead question?

Are these freshwater angels and what type of powerhead is it. Most likely it should be ok but there is no need for it since angels don't care a lot for any current. Not sure what you have in mind with it.

Re: Powerhead question?

They are freshwater angel fish and it is a Penguin 1600 powerhead it is not really just for my angels it is really for my danios and other fish that i have in the aquarium, so just wondering if it was ok for the angels because i dont want to hurt them.

Re: Powerhead question?

Isn't there a volume control on the power head so you could adjust the output flow and pressure?

Re: Powerhead question?

yes there is an adjustable valve, but the powerhead itself is only rated for like a 60 gallon so i thought i wasnt that much pressurer anyways.

In freshwater tanks ya mostly and in saltwater tanks to keep the water moving to imitate the ocean.

What other fish do you have in your tank? It probably shouldn't be that big of a deal. Basically watch your fish closely and see if they have difficulty swimming, if they do take/lower it.

Re: Powerhead question?

I have angels, danios, rummy nose tetras, balas, clown loaches, and dwarg gouramis. I am pretty sure they will all like the current, but i was not sure about the angels

Re: Powerhead question?

If your just making current I don't see any possible issues with using it... Just protect them from the inlet side to be safe.
