Re: transport

Someone else just asked that same question about transporting fish:

I have never had a problem with putting fish in a brand new tank unless there is a noticeable ph difference. It is not absolutely necessary to run your tank for a day before putting your fish into it. If you do have this problem, simply run your tank and let it gas out, and keep your fish in their bags in your styrofoam container until it's time to put them in the tank.

Re: transport

As Gunnie said they should be fine until you are ready to put them into your tank. If by restarting the tank you mean filling it with water, I like the idea of waiting over night to introduce your fish. It will give the water time to warm up and out gas.
