I have a 90L 2ft tank it kinda taller than the average tank. So i want to move it from my bedroom to the living room. It has all of its water in it and gravel how do i move it without starting the cyle over again.

Re: Moving a tank from a room to another

the beneficial bacteria is mainly on the filter and gravel so i think the plan would be to put the filter in a bucket with tank water as if it were on the tank (if possible). If not, then at least the filter cartridges/sponges/etc. in a bucket of tank water. Empty all the water except just enough to cover the gravel and move the tank. then add treated water & get the filter running again.

Re: Moving a tank from a room to another

I agree. As long as you keep the filter and the gravel wet, you should be able to otherwise drain the tank for the move. If you can drain some of the water to buckets to refill with after, that would be great, but even if you need to use new water you should be ok. Just be sure that the new water you add back to the tank has been treated for chlorine/chloramines though. Otherwise you will lose your bacteria and have to cycle again. Also, try to get the temperature of any new water as close as possible to the temperature of the old water the fish are in. Any big temperature swing will stress them, and a big enough swing could kill them.
