I would cut off the lights at night. You may get a bad algae outbreak. Some fish do sleep at night while some are nocturnal and come out at night. What kind of fish do you have?

hi,

keep your aquarium lights on for 10-12 hours only, not more than that. yes, bettas and platies will rest at night and remain active during the day. feel free to ask any type of questions. to avoid algae growth keep the tank away from direct sunlight.

goodluck.

At night my 2 bettas (separate tanks) will sort of lie on the bottom of the tank and look like they are dead. as soon as i pick up the food though, they come right back to the surface. I guess they sleep.

also to prevent algae growth +try putting your lights on a 5hrs on 2hrs off 5hrs on. this will help in the prevention of algae too if you want too +you can also get night lights or lunar lights that have an awesome glow for night fish cant see this light but you can and they are simply brilliant too

if only australia got the products of america i would be in ectasy
