water conditioning??

I am starting my first tank right now, my question is this.* when i change my tank water i add the drops of conditioner to it then add it to the tank immediately, is this enough time to treat the water?* i am concerned that it isn't and the chlorine in the water is killing off the beneficial bacteria that is needed to start the cycling process!!* Please let me know what YOU think.

Re: water conditioning??

Yep, it's okay. The water conditioner immediately treats your water. I use a python in my tanks, and while the water is going back into the tank, I pour the water conditioner into the stream.

Re: water conditioning??

I am glad this question was asked, b/c I was wondering the same thing. I thought it worked immediately, but I just got a Python, and had always treated before adding water to the tank, so now I know.
Thanks!!

Re: water conditioning??

Some folks are leery of doing this, but I haven't lost any fish doing it this way. If you are concerned, pour your conditioner in the tank first before refilling.
