Small Fish
A have a couple of small aquariums, one has had platies in it for some time, but I want something different in the other 10gal. Everyone online is always saying not to put big fish in small aquarium, but I haven't found a list of appropiate small species. Can anyone make suggestions? Thanks

Re: Small Fish
I don't have any particular preference, anything that is colorful and lively. I read swordtails grew to 4"? Wouldn't that be too big for 10 gal. Drarf frogs? they live completely submerged?

Re: Small Fish
if you're talking about african dwarf frogs, they are completely aquatic, but they do breathe air

Re: Small Fish
r u a new aquarist? if yes, then i think u should start with guppies... they r very hardy and really cool and easy to care. u can keep 6 or 7 of them in a 10 gallon tank. the ratio is 2 females per male.

Re: Small Fish
I have had platies in my first tank since last summer. *I have a couple of my adult platies in a 2nd tank I am cycling. *After reading around a little, I'm leaning toward putting a male beta and a couple african drawf frogs in it. *And put my platies back in their orginal tank. *I have some small platies I guess I'll end up trying to find a store who will want them once they get a little bigger.

Re: Small Fish
I would get mollies :P
You cand get ballons sailfins (those are pretty, some even have those huge fins on top), or dalmationns. You can get orange mollies or gold, or silver, or speckled black and* some greeny tope ones...so many colours. plus they swim all over the tank and if kept healthy are very lively fish..can grow up to 2'' 3'' or 4'' even..depends what type

I ended up giving away my 10 gal
but I aquired a 5 gal that I have put a male betta in.
I still have my orginal 10 gal with 3 platies and 3 corys
plus three 1/2 long baby platies that I don't know what to do with
