I bought some Tiger Barbs and a Red Tailed shark recently from my local fish store.. (which is actually a PetCo, unfortunately). I am a little concerned because the RTS is more of a clear-tailed Shark. The person at the store said it had to do with water pH and if I got it home to my tank that it would return to normal color. I have not seen this and it has been a few days. I also notice that my Tiger Barbs are pale orange and not very vibrant.

Is there something possibly wrong, or should I listen to the PetCo guy and wait it out?

my red tail does that all the time, one day his tail is almost a pale yellow/orange, the next day its bright and vibrant reddish orange, i don't think you have anything to worry about, I've had my red tail since august and hes 4 times larger than when I bought him
