How can you tell the sex of Neon Red Tail Moon?

I have 3 new platies and the rep that I got them from stated that two are female and one is male and that they usually breed about every 3 weeks??* or I may have been confused over that statement.. additional information would be appreciated as to how to tell them apart and what to expect as one of them is really getting fat and the other two one is chasing the other all over the tank all the time.. possibly trying to breed??
