LFS Story

I didn't know where to put this so i'll put it here. My LFS which I usually go to on Sundays has a tank called the leftover tank. It is an assortment of fish that the company they buy them from does not know what they are, has excess, or can't get rid of them so they sell them to the store real cheap. The price for any fish ranges from 5-10 dollars. I have found some good finds there in the past. I got my butterfly cichlid, and my spotted figure 8 puffer there before he died. (There have been fish in the tank I have seen go for $50 dollars in other places)

Well this week they had unknown cichlids on sale in the tank for $7 bucks. There was this purple one I wanted. It had black glowing stripes on the side and looked awesome. There were three of them in the tank and I wanted the middle sized one because he would fit in size wise great with the rest of my fish. The guy grabbed the one I thought it was and I took it home. Well to my surprise it was not him. It was a sicker beaten up looking one in the back. I thought no worries since they have a 48 hr health guaruntee and I have brought fish back there before.

I went back today with him to get the one I wanted. The owner/manager who I have never seen was also there. I showed him and he said this one looks like it has been beaten up. I told him I purchased it yesterday and it looked like that when I brought it home, it was not the one I wanted. So he tells me his fish do not attack each other. (In the corner of my eye I see two huge plecos attacking each other in a tank.) He asked me if I had anymore cichlids in my tank. I told him I had 3 and that they were all fine, and I checked on him all yesterday and it was in the corner no one attacked him which was the truth. So after some arguing he agreed to let me exchange it. He said pick anything out of the tank for the same price. There was this amazing yellow fish with white and blue stripes starting from its eye up that I had never seen before. When I said I wanted that one he said since your fish attacked the last one I can only give you the bigger ones. He pulled out the aggressive one that I did not want. I told him it would fight with my other big cichlid who is the dominant fish in the tank. He said take it or leave it.

So I left in disgust and settled him into the tank. First minute in there he starts a fight with my butterfly cichlid. Wow that guy is an idiot. Thought you all might need a good laugh.
