Declorinating water

I heard from the city water guy that using dechlorinators isn't the best way to removing chlorine b/c it contains sulfur and that isn't good for them either. He says the best way is to let the water sit for a day and allow the gases to escape. Has anybody else heard of this? Its not a big concern for me though b/c I've always used a dechlorinator and I haven't seen any effects on my fish.

Re: Declorinating water

Yes I do that for my 29 because it doesn't effect the water temperature too much but for my betta tank I have to use dechlorinatior to keep 80degrees.

Re: Declorinating water

Yea when I do larger water changes I use dechlorinator, but when I just have to replace evaporated water I just use water thats been sitting.

Re: Declorinating water

My grandpa just let his sit out for years. I can't do it for my small tank because it drops the temp too much, in the big tank it doesnt. I haven't had any problems with dechlorinator so I don't know.
