feeding oscars and emergency heater during power outages

Hi, i heard somewhere that you can give Oscars snails sometimes, i think my oscar is about 6-7 inches long, what sort of snail and how big of a one should i give him? thats if its ok to do so. Also, i worry that if there is a power outaage, how can i try to keep the tnak at a decent temp? i do have battery operated air stones, but not sure what to do about the heating. I also have penguin bio wheels, if there is no power these will stop spinning, so what should i do to stop the good bacteria from dying? will it be ok to put them in the tank sort of floating around it till the power comes back on? sorry for the questions but i want to keep Ozzie safe

Re: feeding oscars and emergency heater during power outages

Wish I had some answers for you, but I'm afraid I don't. Someone more knowledgeable should show up soon. Our power went out for one day and the water maintained its temperature okay for that long. The filter didn't work, but again the fish seemed fine and I didn't lose any.
