Number of fish in tank

Just a quick question about fish and the size of tank. We have a 20 gal. tank with three silver dollars and an algae eater. Is this the maximum for this size of tank or what else would be suitable. Thanks.

Welcome to fishLore!!!
Depending on which silver Dollar you have Metynnis argenteus or Metynnis hypsauchen they can get from 5-6 inches and depending on which algae eater you have that would add to your load also. I would think you are max capacity.
Hope that helps.

Re: Number of fish in tank

If they are small you could get some more fish but be aware when they are too big try and find a home for them and find fish which will not outgrow your tank size.

Re: Number of fish in tank

Since you already have the fish you really should take into consideration their adult size before buying more fish. At their adult size you are stocked now.
I'm afraid buying more fish now on the premise of taking them back or finding another home later is not being a responsible fish keeper. Hope that helps
