Water Chem question

I have set up my 29g tank and it is 4 days into the cycle. My question is my PH is staying at 8.4+. What can I do to bring it down? Is adding a PH minus chem a problem? The water in the aqua is dechlorinated tap water. Also my total alkalinity is 300ppm+ I know that also needs to come down. Any thoughts?

Re: Water Chem question

do not add anything to adjust the ph, you'll be doing more harm than good, the fish need a steady ph, if you add chemicals it will fluctuate which could kill your fish, wait for your cycle to be over before you start worrying too much about this kind of stuff

Re: Water Chem question

I wouldn't add anything except dechlor to your water. Most fish will acclimate to your water. If your buying fish locally chances are their water is the same as yours anyway.
