New Tank: Film on Water Surface
Hi, I just got my 5 gallon tank all setup yesterday.* I cleaned the rocks and decorations and did everything this site said to do.* I also used a water conditioning kit which included; tap water conditioner, biological filtration booster (bottle that contains the bacteria needed for nitrogen cycle), aquarium salt, and pH stabilizer.* I put everything in the proportions the directions said and have been running my filter and heater since yesterday.* I also added 2 flakes of fish food to help start the nitrogen cycle.* Today I noticed a clear film on top of the water and I was wondering what it was.* I touched it and it kind of broke up into little pieces and began floating around in the water.* If anyone can tell me what they think the film is that would be great.* *Also, the water is a little cloudy (white cloudiness).* I am assuming the cloudiness is due to the bacteria that I put into the tank. I'm trying to start the tank off right, so any suggestions are welcome.* Thanks, Kyle
