Re: pregnant platy??

ok, so if this is the case, what do i do, i know i obviousley can't keep the fry in my main tank, my shark and tetras might enjoy the live food, i've read that platies can have up to 80 fry, i don't the space for that many

Re: pregnant platy??

The average is 40 frys. Let them grow in a 10 gallon tank first and then later move them to a bigger aquarium. You can also give/sell them.

Re: pregnant platy??

Sorry JMatt1983- i think you should not net the fish when taking a picture because they will get stressed of being netted. you should buy a breeder net or box. CONGRATULATIONS your platy is pregnant

Re: pregnant platy??

You should not get a breeding box or net. It will stress the females greatly.

Re: pregnant platy??

i figured that, my sick female didn't like being in that small tank, kept swimming into the sides, im just going to leave her in the main tank, if some of the fry get eaten, they get eaten, its just natures way
