GREAT NEWS! and more help :D

Alright, it turns out my thermometer was wrong... Not sure how it broke ... Now my questions... Three to be exact. Is it okay for the occasional bubble to go up my Power Filter's intake tube? Doesn't seem to be hurting it but just wondering... Second question.. I purchased an apple snail and it doesn't move... at all? Its alive because it will sometimes come out of it's shell and turn but then it will just go back in. Third question, I bought a TROPIC SUN 5500K Daylight (15 watts) flourescent lighting... I have betta bubls in my tank which are growing alright at the moment... will this provide enough of the right light for these plants? THANKS AGAIN!!!

Re: GREAT NEWS! and more help :D

I don't see where the occasional bubble up the intake is going to cause any problems for your filter. I'm not sure about the snail not moving. I always thought they moved around the tank. As far as the plants go, you will have to find out exactly what a betta bulb is to determine how much light it needs. www.plantgeek.net is a good place for help on that. Divide the gallon size of your tank by 15 (How many watts you have) to determine how many watts per gallon you have. I have a 10 gal. tank with 2 15 watt flourescent bulbs over it, so my lighting on that tank is 3 WPG. 1 wpg is low light, 2 wpg is medium light, and 3 wpg is high light. Plantgeek will tell you what type of light your plant needs to do well.

Re: GREAT NEWS! and more help :D

Snails can go a long time without moving (3 days) don't be too concerned. Unfortunately there is not much you can do for them. However to see if they are dead, their bodies will VERY easily fall out thier shell with a soft push with the finger, and if he/she stays int he shell, it's alive! Fish can make them scared easy, but they will get used to it, as mine took about a week if not more.
