Suspicious particles in tank..

In between vacuumings,I've noticed several food flakes floating in my 10gal. tank, and they have, what appears to be a fungus-like halo(for want of a better word) around them...should I be worried? The inhabitants of that tank are fed BettaMin Tropical Medley flakes which they seem to enjoy, along with an occasional helping of Blood-worms.

Sounds like some kind of Algae forming on the food. I would cut back on the amount of food you are feeding a bit.

Re: Suspicious particles in tank..

I agree. It's just normal bacteria surrounding the uneaten food. When you see that happening a lot, it's a good indicator you are overfeeding. Only feed them what your fish will eat in a few minutes unless you are feeding veggie wafers or raw veggies.

Re: Suspicious particles in tank..

It is simply leftover food rotting on your tank's floor. I have that from time to time - I simply vacuum it out. The reason I feed a lot is that I have young angels still growing. Otherwise, overfeeding is not good.
