How many fish can I have in my 10 gallon tank?

I just got a new 10 gallon for Christmas and was wunderin how many fish I can have in it?

It all depends on the type of fish and the size of your aquarium. The rule of thumb is 1-inch of fish per gallon. You need to use the potential adult size of the fish and not the current size.

Alot of people, including myself, prefer 1 inch per 2 gallons of water. Makes the tank less crowded and maintenance easier.

How about a shelldweller set up? There are many shellies which would live happily in your 10 gallon tank!

Maybe a couple of snails, and some Danios, and Tetras. A good set-up would be some Rummy Nose Tetras, Cories, and 1 or 2 Mystery Snails.
