Fish dying left and right help!!!:helpsmilie:

I have had a Guppy for the last week that I thought had swim bladder. He seems to get a little bit better every time I feed him peas. On the other hand the other fish are starting to die. I do not know what is going on. They are doing fine in the morning and by afternoon they are listing and can barley swim. what should I do?

Hi, I'm sorry you're having problems with your tank.

You've updated your info, but didn't include the ammonia and nitrite readings, it would help to know what they are.

Have you added anything new to the tank? Are they eating normally?
It's odd that all of a sudden they would be sick like this.

Same questions Lucy asked.
I'm presuming you would have mentioned if you had noticed any aggression among your fish, but I'll ask anyway. Have you noticed any aggression among your fish?

Edit: Small-fish's question (a good one, by the way) prompted another question from me. Have you noticed any damage to the fins? Are they torn, shorter, ragged looking, or anything of the sort?

It's definitely something with your water, did you check aquarium water on high pH, ammonia, etc.? I think it's all about water.

I don't know why they aren't showing up as updated. Both my nitrates and Ammonia are at 0. The fins look fine. They do seem to get bloated around their gills and mouth. My male that is sick used to be a real pretty blue. He is almost a yellow color now. His eyes do not seem to pop. Right before the fish die I noticed that their mouth area gets kinda opaque. I started treating my tank with myacen yesterday. The fish store said that they thought it might be a bacteria and/or a Fungus. No aggression that I noticed. I added fish on the 8th. By the way I lost the female that was sick.

Your nitrAtes are 0? or nitrItes? I know sometimes I type an 'A' when I meant to type an 'I'

I wonder if the new fish brought something into the tank with them.
Did you quarantine them first?

hmm alot of the symptoms sound like ammonia...check your ammonia bottle at the top right hand corner theres a lot # and the last 4 numbers are the date of expiration...ex 2130407 that would expire april of 07 ...just to be sure your kit is good....I got mine in march brand new ordered from my LFS who didnt carry them, but they ordered me one...and mine was expired when I got it!

Sorry I did mean nitrites. I did check my kit it is expired. What do I do about it. I just bought it. Like about 2 weeks old. I did purchase a live meter made by mardel that reads ammonia. It is reading 0ppm.

That's a shame, they cost so darn much money. I agree with Shawnie, return it.

Are these the new fish that are ill? They might have been sick when you bought them.
Did you buy them at the same place as the kit? Check their policy about refunds on fish.

The male I have had since set up, so I can't replace him. I have been replacing the the others. I am going to try to replace the kit. Thanks for the advice.
