I have been having this problem for 8 weeks now

My betta has a growth on her head that just won't go away. It has been there since my husband put her in the tank with the other tetras. I removed her within 24hrs as I saw this was not working. i thought it was a fungus and treated her with jungle cure for fungus with no results. Then i treated her with API fungus cure with no results. I'm starting to think it's not a fungus and any other diseases just don't fit.
She is in a 3 gallon eclipse with the biowheel
I do 2x a week water changes with prime and have added a very small amout of diluted aquarium salt I did this 2 times (which makes the growth smaller for a few days)

her readings are
ammonia 0 nitrites 0 nitrates 0. Tank not cycled yet. I'm waiting on my tetra safe start.

I will attach a pic and hopefully someone may know whats wrong. Hmm maybe an injury from being with the tetras? You think?

Thanks again for everyones help

I have a feeling something else is going on, since if it was a wound from the tetras biting her, it should have healed long before now if her water is kept pristine. Perhaps someone else will know....

I do notice that her belly seems very bloated. What and how often are you feeding her?

thanks Barbrella Yes her belly is bloated and this is much better than it was. Everyone was very excited in the family and everyone was feeding her without the others knowledge. I put an end to that and have fasted her 2 days a week and gave a piece of a cooked pea. That helped a bunch. I give her about 3-4 small pellets a day when she's not fasting. Do you think that is still too much? She has always had a big tummy but like i said this is her normal before it was really bloated.

thank you for your response

She looks a bloated in the pic, and I'm not too sure, but is her botton fin usually ragged like that?

Oops, I see you answered the bloated question. I'm not sure I'd give her pellets for a while, just fasting and bits of thawed frozen shelled pea.
Is she pooing?

she is beautious!! I love her colors...but I dont see any other injury ...is it that spot on her head?

I would continue with daily water changes and prime...at least until the tank is cycled...and maybe some stress coat to help her heal up....tetra's arent very nice to betta's and thats probably what happen to her..I would stop the salt as labyrinth fish dont do well with salt and sometimes irritates things worse...

Aww thanks shawnie. She is my sweetie!! She has such personality. Gets so excited when I come by the tank and when i move my head side to side she moves her body side to side. It's adorable.

I will buy some stress coat. I thought that salt may help with the wound. But i will stop that. Thanks again!

Oh and yes it's the white spot on top of her head.

thats what I thought..im betting its from the tetra's nipping at her...stress coat, fresh garlic juice, vita chem, and fish protector (if you can find the last two) will heal her up ..just keep her water prestine godluck!

Oh gosh I hope not. I think Holly had a tumor like the rest of the batch of girls I got her from...which caused her to be egg bound and weak.
I hope it's nothing serious with your cute girl dinatwin. I think it's just a superficial wound Good luck with her.
