Canopy Holder

I couldn't find a specific forum on this question so I thought I would Start here. My canopy brace, which holds the glass tops in place has broke...The center strip cracked and will not support the weight of the glass and hood. Does anyone know how to fix this without buying a new tank. Thanks

Hmmm.... use some silicone to glue two pieces of sturdy plastic over and under the broken brace, that might work.

Thats a good idea but this brace seems to be part of the actual tank and there is no way to put anything under brace. Anything above would lose the tight fit. Its the support that divides the tank that is broken.

Is it a glass tank with a plastic trim panel at the top? If so, then I realize that its connected to the trim... but you should be able to get a similar sized piece of plastic thats maybe a little sturdier and glue it over both sides of the break, leaving enough room that it doesnt affect the canopies. I've done it before with a 55g that had a divider in the middle that broke.

I get what Clinton is saying (actually, it was my first thought, too), but maybe we're not thinking of the damage properly.
If what Clinton has said seems like it won't work to you, is there any way you can get a picture of, or even draw, the damage?

OK Now I see what you mean..The damage is as Clinton described...I guess I wasn't thinking outside the box...I'll just cut off broken piece and replace..I was actually thinking replacement which I couldn't see how that would be possible..Thanks to you both..Take care
