| Read the betta food. The fish will know it's food but when they don't like it they will throw the food a way.:

| Hi hobzz, is your tank 46 Liters or 46 Gallons?
Your pleco would rather have some veggies in, as Shawnie already said.
What type of pleco do you have? If you have a common pleco, your betta will likely be in danger. As juveniles, they are quite harmless, but as they grow, they get nasty (and good at it) and attack slow swimmers like bettas.

| I have a rubber lip pleco with one of my bettas, they only get 6". It depends on the personality of the betta whether they'll accept tank mates or not. When I tried to keep Floyd with the pleco he instantly started charging it, but Emerson is doing just fine with him. |

| There are no species of plecostomus that would survive very long at all in a 2 gallon tank. I'm sorry to have to tell you that. |

| If it's only 2 gallons then there's definitely not enough room for a pleco. |

| I wouldn't put a male and female betta together. At least one will end up dead. |

| 2 gallons is kinda small for one betta, let alone two. |

| Pretty much any betta should be kept alone. Some people say they've kept females together in very large tanks, but I'd personally never do it. |

| Male and female betta splendens will 99.999% of the time not get along together in a tank. (There are tank dividers that one can use to seperate the two, but in a 2g tank that would be a bit tight.)
Male and females of other species of bettas quite often do get along together, but most pet stores/fish stores do not carry anything but betta splendens. |

| I agree with everyone else! 2 gal would be the bare minimum for one betta..girlie or boy...not both..and even for one betta, it needs a heater and filter...so maybe talk to the boss about a bigger tank? |

| I'd say go with a 5 gallon. Still not very big, but your betta will appreciate it alot! And it can easily be heated and filtered. |

| I hope everyone takes into consideration that CWC and Dino are highly experienced fish keepers.
A beginner should not try what they've been able to accomplish. |

although I made the mistake of thinking cwc was raised around fish (see what happens when one assumes), he does do his homework and has a great teacher in dino...just because it works for them, it DOESNT mean it will work for us...education and learning is the key to great fish keeping |

The bettas I speak of being able to stay together require no more knowledge or experience than would a tank of guppies, for instance.
Betta Falx, Betta Mahachai, and Betta Coccina are three examples off the top of my head. |
