newbie driftwood question

Can I add real driftwood to my aquarium?, or should I just use plastic?

Hi, what i did was boil the wood first,then put it in a water barrel until it was totally soaked .I waited until it would not float any more because it makes it easyer when you put it in your tank .

Malaysian and Swahala sink without soaking. That's what I try to get, or regular driftwood with a slate base.

I would love to get some of the wood that you find, but live in England .Do you just bolt it on to a slate base then and put it in your tank.

Make sure the slate is inert, but yes, just bolt it or some people glue it but I've heard that the glue method (mostly using silicone) doesn't hold very well long-term. I buy mine from my LFS pre-slated, and I buy my Swahala and Malaysian online.
