| Taking a picture of an aquarium is hard for many reasons. To eliminate the flash's glare, you need to be fairly close to the glass. A steep angle might work too, but i know that when i take a "braggin'" picture i want it pretty much straight on. I suppose it's also possible to use external lighting to not need the flash, but depending on the fish they could dart around so the more light, the better to reduce blurring.
For focusing, many cameras use a separate light which, at the close range, doesn't shine directly in front of the camera. For example, i have a Sony CyberShot that i bought 3 years ago. It uses a bright orange light to focus (once focused, the light shuts off), but close up, the red light is high and to the right. What i have to do is have the camera's orange light focus the camera on what i want to take a picture of (can't use the viewfinder or screen on the back of the camera), hold that focus, and then move the camera and take the picture.
Hope this helps |
