New Tank?

Hi,

I've kept gold fish when I was younger (now I learn I did it wrong!). I've also kept some other hardy fish like barbs and guppys in a 10gal over the last few years. I curently have a betta and his pets, zebra danio and a snail. I've also kept a few hardy plants as well! But I think It's time to move up and get a larger tank some nice new live plants and some new fish! So, any suggestions on tank sizes, filters, airpumps, heaters, plants, fish, or any kool designes or ideas would be great! I'm thinking of keeping a tank with no to some aggretion, with a variety of fish! But all ideas and tips are welcome!

Thnx Harley!

Get a 29 - 55gal. Then, fishless cycle it (http://www.fishlore.com/NitrogenCycle.htm). Move Danio up to the big tank as soon as it's cycled, and give him 5 friends. Betta and snail stay in the 10gal. Then, decide what other fish your interested in (http://www.aquahobby.com/e_freshwate...arium_fish.php) and tell us, and we can figure a nice stock for you. Why not go to the LFS with no money, and see what you like. (Bringing money is a mistake... It is a mistake when you have a cycling tank!)

I agree with HatchetHaven. Go without MONEY. Think of it as investigating. Check out all your LFS and see what combinations you can come up with. Also see who's fish look healthy. Sounds like fun to me.

I'm probably going with 40-55gal. I've always wanted to keep angel fish! I also like the look of schooling fish in an aquarium! If I go with angels how many and what can I keep with them? Also I want to stay away from live bearers cause I've kept them before and I dont feel like having a 1000 fish in a few months, and trying to find a place that takes them!

If you get angelfish get a tall tank. And in 40 gallons you may be able to get away with 4 angels.

I have heard to get more than you are going to want for angelfish, so they can pair up. Then sell the rest... I think with a 40-55g you could get away with a pair of angelfish, and fairly big schools of corydoras and tetras (or danios), with another school of ottos or shrimp to work on the algae...

2 Angels, 15 Harlequin rasboras, 6 Corys, 1 Bristlenose pleco. Simple but amazing!

Or maybe 8 rasboras and 8 cardinal tetras?

I think that would be a great tank!
