Common Pleco+African Cichlids=?

Would a common pleco be ok with African cichlids or should i just have African Cichlids only?

I have a clown pleco in with my africans - in a 55 gal. He def. takes care of himself . I would say that as long as the tank is large enough for a common pleco (100 gal. +) then they would be okay together.

Agreed. Commons should be ok they are like tanks. My bristle noses didn't fare so well with my africans.

Honestly if it were me i'd skip the pleco all together. More trouble then they are worth. Especially commons. Your africans are greedy fish, they won't leave much food wastes, so the pleco will just be a poop producer for nothing IMO.

The clown is fine with your Africans? My female clown plecos is pretty shy...but bossy. I need a pleco in with my Africans. Mmm?
How long has yours been in with the Africans?

I don't think it's a good idea to have them in with Malawi Africans they are from two different parts of the world.

I don't know about a clown pleco w/ africans. My common pleco and lep plecos do fine w/ the malawi's...
I also have albino bushynose in my 58 w/ my malawis (they are smaller size malawis right now)

My clown has been with the malawis about a month - as long as I've had them. The cichlids don't bother the pleco at all, they'll all share a zucchini slice together at night.
