Hey I'm on UB as well! (Don't use the account much though. My account on there is Osprey 08)

Wow! I like the idea of the amazon thing. If you do try putting trailing houseplants in - don't go for ivy. (It needs the temp to drop to under 45F at night or it shrivels.... Why do I always learn things the hard way!) If it was me I would try a few ferns, creeping fig (ficus pumila), Fittonia, Pellonia or Tradescantia. Yes I'm a bit of a houseplant geek to!

no problem with being a houseplant geek

I am doing some research. Also since I have never setup an overflow/sump I am actually going to try a small scale to make sure I know what I am doing before I go big haha

I JUST MIGHT DO THAT! but bad/good news. I found a 125g tank on craigslist for $50.. I emailed the guy so hopefully it is still available. If I do end up getting the 125g I will be putting my efforts into cleaning it, making a stand for it. And who knows what else..

Thatg is one of the biggest bargains I have ever seen EVER! I would personally go for it, and perhaps yu could modify it a bit to have a sump?

Possibly. but since my biggest tank right now is a 29g.. and i am 16yrs old and jobless.. i am a little unsure that i would like to take the risk of ruining a 125g tank.. im sure you understand.

Dwarf cichlids should get on with schoolers. I would try apistos - blue rams are delicate! Bolivian rams of Kribs would be nice ones.

Ok i get it now.

Question though. Where is the water going once its in that box? You pumping it to a wet/dry or sump type of filter below? Just not sure where its going to go once its in that slit especially with a solid bottom.

If you are draining the water via overflow elsewhere, why not do a coast to coast on the short side at the back? Saves a lot of room. 55gals are already skinny enough!
