tank vacuum question

I have a python vacuum that hooks up to the faucet, and sucks out the stuff from the tank. The problem is, when i wasnt home my father for some unknown reason decided that hooking up the pool vacuum was too much work so he used MY tank vacuum instead! Needless to say i was quite upset, although i must admit it worked well for the pool. So, my question is..if i soak it in a bucket of water with de-chlorinator will it be safe to use in my fish tanks again?

i would run some water through it, and then soak it in de-cholinator, and it should be fine
