Most snail killing products are copper based which works fine, but the copper salts kill all invertabrates, including shrimp. If you plan on keeping any fresh water shrimp in the tank, the copper is also very hard to get out of the tnakl system. Thus if you use one of these treatments, keep that in mind if you ever plan to stock fresh water inverts.
One simple technique is just to squish the snails on the glass and let you fish eat them. I tired that but my fish apparently had no taste for escargot, so now I just take a small net and scoop them off the sides of the tank and toss them out with the trash.
