Hmmm... I should never have started looking at aquariums... oh well. This is just a random kinda question but I was just on kijiji () and I noticed that there were quite a few fish-tanks for sale and was just wondering if there was anything that you needed to be on the look out for when buying a used aquarium. (other then cracks and perma-filth)

Ask for them to fill it with water in front of you (to make sure)
Used tank (bare tank, no accessories), is generally a a buck a gallon
Accessories, is pretty much up to you on if you'll use them or not (I don't use used heaters, gravel, decorations, etc). Generally (IMO), if you don't want the extra stuff, they'll drop the price.

If this is your first tank, get the biggest you can reasonably afford

The bigger the tank, the easier the maintenance. Remember that. Like KonaBoy said, have them fill it with water. Dont only check for visible leaks though, check anywhere the tank edges meet for water seeping out slowly.

Yea, that's the one that gets ya. The 30g long that got broke in our move had a water seep at the top, but was usable if i filled it to about 90%.

Oh, and when yo get your tank, DON'T get any fish and ask on here. Do your research on what fish you want to keep as well! I reccomend guppys, Platys, Corys and Bristlenose plecos.

I'll keep it in mind however my next tank is going to be an upgrade for my RTBS so anything else to go in there will have to be able to hold their own against him.
